Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 — Golden City Arrival

  • Arrive from Ahmedabad and transfer to your heritage hotel. A brief break is followed by an afternoon of the most envisioned attractions of Jaisalmer, the city of golden sandstone streets, shaded courtyards, and carved up monuments narrating centuries in the past. In every nook and cranny, it is like a movie set; it is not surprising that movie and film directors have frequently made this city a setting for love stories and big historical productions.
  • Start with a personal-guided tour of the Jaisalmer Fort. It is a living fort and a UNESCO World Heritage Site where people live within the honey-colored walls even today.
  • Take a tour of Patwon Ki Haveli, a complex of five grand mansions constructed by a powerful trading family, followed by Nathmal Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli, each an example of the unique architecture in the state of Rajasthan.
  • The Tazia Tower is also worth a visit, to capture an extraordinary photo of the skyline of the city.
  • Finish the day off with a cool beverage on the rooftop or with chai as the sun goes down, casting shades of gold and amber over the fort and city below.
  • Head back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 2

Day 2 — Desert Camp (Dunes, Music & Stars)

  • Leave the city behind and let the desert take over. Today is about clear skies, golden sands, and a day that is full of movie-like moments. Take a comfortable trip to the Sam Sand Dunes where the horizon seems to stretch endlessly, and check in to a luxury desert camp.
  • Head to the Sam Sand Dunes. Arriving, it is better to take a short ride on the camels to admire calm scenes and take a short photo safari. To get the heart racing, book a dune bashing adventure in an SUV - a controlled adventure ride that takes one through enormous heights.
  • Check into your desert camp and relax for a bit.
  • The cultural program of the camp starts in the evening with the dance of the Kalbeliya dancers, music of the Manganiyar, and a close-up storytelling around the bonfire. Enjoy a candlelit Rajasthani dinner under the stars.
  • You can also experience local flavours by having a plate of dal-baati-churma.
  • Stargaze with warm blankets and a hot beverage at night.

Day 3

Day 3 — Jeep Safari & Desert National Park

  • After a leisurely breakfast, swap the camel for an early-morning jeep safari to explore the expansive desert landscape. This day is all about wildlife, open horizons, and the less-visited side of the Thar.
  • Jeep Safari into Desert National Park. Spot Blackbuck, chinkara (Indian gazelle), desert foxes, and birds of the locality. The cool mornings are best for wildlife sightings and excellent for photography.
  • Go back to the city for lunch and look forward to a relaxed afternoon.
  • Next visit Lodhruva- a picturesque ghost town that was once used as a landmark in the ancient Silk Path.
  • Go to Bada Bagh and watch the sunset, where the royal cenotaphs glow warmly and offer a peaceful, cinematic backdrop for photos.
  • Stroll through Bhatia Bazaar to do some late-night shopping. Fine woodwork, mirror embroidery, and artisan pieces can be found in small family-owned stores.
  • Head back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 4

Day 4 — Gadisar Lake & Departure

  • Make the most of the last morning of your Jaisalmer trip from Ahmedabad. Today is all about relaxing soaking in serene sights before you head back to Ahmedabad.
  • A quiet walk on the ghats during sunrise is quite the sight to see for early risers. The skyline of the sandstones is reflected in the calm lake, and the air in the morning is cool. Prefer a slower start? Enjoy a slow, leisurely breakfast instead.
  • It is worth visiting the Jaisalmer War Museum before leaving. It has displayed tanks, airplanes, and tales of heroism of the Indian Army.
  • Move towards the airport or railway station for your departure.
