Overview

If you are a first-time visitor to Jaisalmer, then you will love this Jaisalmer desert camp package. The highlight of this package is staying in a desert camp in Sam sand dunes. It will be a luxury camp pitched right in the middle of the sprawling Thar Desert in Jaisalmer. You will be surrounded by tall sand dunes and can enjoy the scenic Thar Desert landscape that you have only seen in documentary films and movies. The desert safari will be on a camel’s back, and you can experience the vastness of the desert and its wildlife.

This tour is also a cultural tour of Jaisalmer, where you will visit one of the largest forts in all of Rajasthan, the Jaisalmer Golden Fort. This fort is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but a favourite movie location. Many Bengali movies were shot at this fort, and one of the most famous among them is Sonar Kella by Satyajit Ray. In fact, the name of this fort is Golden Fort, which is the English translation of Sonar Kella. You can visit the mansions inside the fort and the innumerable temples made of white marble. The fort is so massive that it will take almost 3-4 hours to fully explore its various parts.

Our Jaisalmer camping packages are the best to experience the exotic beauty of the desert region of Jaisalmer. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you and also a memorable one. Though this tour is short, it will leave a sketch of the desert landscape of Rajasthan in your mind. The Rajasthani hospitality, campfire dinner, camel rides and sunrise views of the golden sand dunes are things that you will remember for a lifetime.

Day 1: Arrival in Jaisalmer | Explore the Golden City

  • The Jaisalmer desert camp package starts after you arrive in Jaisalmer. Our tour representative will pick you up from Jaisalmer Railway Station/ Jaisalmer Airport and drive to the pre-booked hotel in Jaisalmer.
  • Then you can complete all the check-in formalities and check into the hotel. Then, have some rest and refresh yourself after the long journey.

  • We start with Jaisalmer Fort, also known as the Golden Fort. This fort is counted among the Hill Forts in Rajasthan and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • You can take a walk on the narrow lanes in this fort and visit the havelis and temples inside the fort. The fort is a rare example of a ‘living fort’ where descendants of the original population of Jaisalmer still live in havelis built inside the fort.
  • The fort is considered to be among the biggest forts in Rajasthan and has powerful bastions, huge ramparts, a triple-layer defence structure and thick outer walls.
  • The fort is so massive that it will take almost 3 hours to explore its interior parts.
  • Now we will visit Patwon ki Haveli, which is one of the most popular tourist landmarks in Jaisalmer.
  • The haveli has incredible Rajasthani architecture and carvings on yellow sandstone construction. You can view a huge haveli with a large courtyard and intricate jharokha designs, sculpted walls and pillars.
  • Then visit Gadisar Lake and sit by its banks and admire the views of temples, shrines, and chhatris all around the lake.
  • Then move ahead on this tour and visit a local market. You can view the handicraft items and local street food of Jaisalmer in these bazaars.
  • Take about 2-3 hours and explore the vintage shops in this market. Do a bit of shopping and take home the unique craft items of Rajasthan, like puppets, shoes, purses, etc.
  • In the afternoon, have lunch and then relax in your hotel room.
  • Then proceed to Sam sand dunes area near Jaisalmer, and this will be a drive of around 1 hour by cab.
  • Check into the desert camp and enjoy traditional Rajasthani hospitality and welcome.
