Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 — Arrival in the Golden City → Fort & Havelis

  • Step off your train or flight and Jaisalmer greets you like a mirage — warm, golden, and quietly theatrical. After a quick check-in and a moment to refresh, your first day of the Jaisalmer tour plan eases you straight into the city’s heart: a living fort where history is not behind glass, but alive in every lane, every stone, and every view.
  • Begin with the Jaisalmer Fort. Also known as the “the Golden Fort,” it was founded in 1156, as one of the very few living forts in the world, still home to thousands of residents. Wander its winding lanes, step inside the exquisitely carved Jain Temples, and climb to the outer walls for sweeping views across the golden city.
  • Visit the Patwon Ki Haveli. A cluster of five ornate merchant mansions famous for painted walls, mirror-work, and intricate jali screens — a window into the city’s trading past.
  • Head to Nathmal & Salim Singh Ki Havelis. At Nathmal Ki Haveli, notice the blend of Hindu and Islamic artistry carved into every panel; legend has it that its two halves were built simultaneously by different craftsmen. Salim Singh Ki Haveli, meanwhile, stands out with its distinctive peacock-shaped roofline and dramatically protruding balconies.
  • Close your first day on a golden note. Head back to the fort or settle into a rooftop café to watch the sandstone city glow as the sun sets.

Day 2

Day 2 — Ghostly Ruins & Golden Dunes

  • A day of contrasts: morning mystery and an evening that belongs completely to the desert.
  • Early departure to Kuldhara. Wander through wind-worn doorways and sun-bleached courtyards in this abandoned settlement, said to have been deserted overnight in the early 19th century. Stories of curses and lost love still linger in its silence, making it one of Rajasthan’s most hauntingly beautiful sites.
  • Return for lunch and a short rest in town. Food note: Don’t leave without trying Dal Baati Churma or the famous Ker Sangri ki Sabzi.
  • As the day cools, head out to Sam Sand Dunes. The choice is yours: sway gently on a camel ride that feels timeless and cinematic, or hop into an open jeep for a faster-paced adventure with sweeping desert views.
  • Arrive at your desert camp and be welcomed with the warmth of Rajasthani hospitality. The night deepens with Kalbeliya dancers swirling in black skirts, Manganiyar musicians plucking soulful desert tunes, and the crackle of a bonfire. Dinner follows — a fragrant, candlelit spread served under an impossibly starry sky.

Day 3

Day 3 — Jaisalmer Sightseeing & Departure

  • A gentle morning to gather memories before you leave — one last quiet hour by water and a slow return to the city.
  • Greet the sunrise over the dunes or savor a steaming cup of tea at camp—both offer their own quiet peace.
  • Return to town and visit Amar Sagar. A serene stepwell and garden complex, this off-the-beaten-path spot features carved pavilions and tranquil water pools. Ideal for quiet strolls and reflective photos.
  • End your trip with a peaceful boat ride on the Gadisar Lake or a walk along the ghats. Once a crucial water reservoir, Gadisar continues to embody the city’s life and heritage amidst the desert.
  • Transfer to the station/airport for your onward journey.
