Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 — Arrival in the Golden City

  • Your Mumbai to Jaisalmer tour package will begin with a warm welcome in the Golden City, where sandstone buildings and the intricate detailing of the living fort are the immediate attractions that capture your interest. Once you have settled in your heritage hotel and relaxed for a while, the day gradually unfolds with history, architecture that is fascinating, and streets that look more like a storybook.
  • Start by doing a Jaisalmer fort tour which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is not an ordinary fort because it is a living neighborhood with people living in honey-colored walls. Move through the twisted streets, visit darkened lanes and go into the highly-decorated Jain Temples.
  • Travel to the Patwon Ki Haveli. Explore this cluster of five luxurious merchant houses. Behold mirror-work, sculpted balconies and jali screens.
  • Visit the Nathmal Ki & Salim Singh Ki Havelis. Witness Nathmal Ji’s fusion of Rajput and Islamic architectural motifs, and Salim Singh Ki Haveli’s signature peacock-shaped roofline.
  • Make your way to Tazia Tower. This is an impressive Mughal tower, which makes for the ideal skyline shot, particularly during the sunset.
  • End the day with a sundowner at a rooftop café or the Golden Fort.
  • Head back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 2

Day 2 — Jaisalmer Sightseeing

  • After breakfast, get ready to explore a different side of Jaisalmer — serene waters, vibrant colors, and quaint lanes that feel straight out of a film set. In fact, Bollywood scenes like Ek Tha Tiger or PK, today have been shot in these locations..
  • Begin by walking in the morning around Gadisar Lake or by taking a boat ride along this historic reservoir, which previously supplied water to the dry city.
  • Go to Bhatia Bazaar. Enter this bustling market in the heart of the town, to shop for wood-craft, mirror-embroidery, and textiles along the narrow streets.
  • Visit Aman Sagar. This small pavilion and water pond garden complex is an oasis of small pavilions and water ponds, well worth exploring. Ideal place to take a peaceful stroll or take photographs without the crowds.
  • Head back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 3

Day 3 — Sam Sand Dunes Desert Safari & Serenade

  • Today, you get to sit back and enjoy Jaisalmer’s adventurous and romantic sides as they take center stage.
  • Depart around mid-morning for the Sam Sand Dunes.En route, there are optional wildlife viewing experiences in the Desert National Park of Blackbucks, desert foxes and migratory birds.
  • Arrive at the dunes towards the end of the afternoon. Take a lazy ride on the camel over the sand dunes which is best suited to capture the setting sun. Alternatively, you could go dune-bashing in an SUV which is best for adventurers.
  • Check in to your desert camp.
  • At night, the Kalbeliya dancers, Manganiyar musicians and storytelling happen at the camp. Have a private Rajasthani dinner under the starlit sky to absorb the magic of the Thar desert.
  • Spend your evening, wrapped under a warm blanket, sipping a warm beverage and watching the stars.

Day 4

Day 4 — Sunrise, Souvenirs & Departure to Mumbai

  • This last morning in Jaisalmer is intended to ensure you make memories that last a lifetime- a combination of desert serenity, golden light, and a few last glimpses of the city before you say goodbye.
  • Watch the desert life when the sun is rising in the desert. Should you prefer to travel at a more leisurely pace? Enjoy a cup of piping hot chai and listen to the quiet stirrings of morning in the dunes.
  • You can go back to town after breakfast to shop around the local streets.
  • Before you go, you may want to have a look at the Jaisalmer war museum which commemorates the valour of the Indians with tanks, aircrafts and strong narratives of the 1965 and 1971 indo-pak wars.
  • Move to the train station or the airport to continue with your travel.
